
Participation scheme
Participate in fun, educational or healthy activities. That is the Participation Scheme. Apply for the Participation Scheme, receive a budget worth 147 euros and choose from one of the 1200 different activities. Check T-Helpt to see what you can do with the Participation Scheme.
What are the conditions of the Participation Scheme?
- You live in the municipality of Tilburg.
- You (together with your partner) have a net income of up to 120% of the social assistance level. Under 'How much income and assets can I have?' the amounts are stated.
- You (jointly) do not have more assets than permitted (for example, a car or savings).
How can I apply for the Participation Scheme?
Apply for the Participation Scheme online with your DigiD. The municipality will immediately check whether your partner and children living at home under 18 are also eligible for the budget.

Would you like to apply for the 2026 Participation Scheme?
From January 1st, you can apply for the Participation Scheme for 2026.
Did you have the Participation Scheme in 2025? Then the municipality will check at the end of the year whether you automatically receive the Participation Scheme for 2026. If you haven't received a letter about the Participation Scheme by mid-January 2026, apply for it yourself.
When will I receive a message?
We will ensure that you receive an answer within 8 weeks. The municipality checks your income data. Sometimes we need additional information. Then we will contact you.
Can someone help me with the application?
Volunteers from Home Administration are happy to help you apply for the Participation Scheme. Come to the office without an appointment. consultation hours in one of the community centers near youDon't forget to bring your DigiD, mobile phone, and any documents required for the application.
How do I calculate the income?
Add up all your income for one month (and that of your partner).
Add up
- Income from work or benefits (without holiday allowance)
- Pension, alimony/maintenance contribution
- All other income
- For married couples: the General Tax Credit Tax Credit (IB/PVV) for the least-earning partner
- As a single parent, do you receive a child-related budget? Then you count €290 per month as income. The amount above that is not counted as income.
Don't count
- Energy allowance or a contribution for energy costs from the national emergency fund
- Rent allowance, healthcare allowance or housing allowance
- Special wellfare
- Child support
- Part of a Child Budget: €290 is counted as income, the amount above that is not.
- Personal budget with which you purchase care

What can I do with the Participation Scheme?
Each family member can spend a budget of €147 on one of the many activities. If the activity costs more, you contribute the rest yourself. If the activity costs less, you use the remaining amount for another activity. View the offer on T-Helpt >
How does the Participation Scheme work?
- Select an activity the offer on T-Helpt/Participation Scheme
- Go to the activity provider and bring:
- Your passport, identity card or driver's license
- Your customer number
- Tell the provider that you want to use the Participation Scheme.
- The provider checks your data
- If the activity costs more than €147, you'll pay the remaining amount yourself.
Find your customer number
Your customer number allows your provider to see how much money you still have from the Participation Scheme. Your provider will share your customer number with the municipality. This way, the municipality knows you're using the Participation Scheme with this provider. The number is included in the letter you receive from us. You can also find your customer number on My Church under My Participation Scheme (Login DigiD required).
How long is the budget valid for?
The budget is valid until 31 December. Don't pass it up, because you can't carry budget to the next year or exchange it for cash.
Can I view my budget or look up my customer number?
Yes, of course! Log in to My Church (DigiD required) and look under My Participation Scheme to see:
- how much budget do you have left
- what you used your budget for and
- what is your customer number
Also from your family members who have received the Participation Scheme. Children aged 18 or older living at home must log in with their own DigiD.
Can I object?
Have you received a rejection and disagree with it? Then you can within 6 weeks to object (DigiD required).
