Health insurance

Do you live in Tilburg and have a low income? Then you can use the collective health insurance plan through CZ or VGZ. You'll receive a comprehensive health care package, and the municipality will contribute to the premium. This way, you'll pay less for more care.

Health insurance 2026

Are you already using the collective health insurance plan through your municipality? Then you will receive a new health insurance policy from CZ or VGZ for 2026 at the end of November 2025. You will also receive a letter with information from your municipality at the end of November.

  • If you don't want to change anything, don't do anything.
  • Want to switch packages or apply for a different insurance policy? You must do so before December 31, 2025.
  • If you are not yet using the CZM, you can apply for the insurance at the end of November 2025 via www.Gezondverzekerd.nl.

Can I apply for collective health insurance?

Collective health insurance conditions

  • You are 18 years or older.
  • You live in the municipality of Tilburg.
  • You (together with your partner) have a net income of up to 120% of the minimum.
  • You (together) do not have more power than allowed.

Do you (together) have more power? Then you are not entitled to the collective health insurance of the municipality. By equity we mean the total amount in all your checking and savings accounts. The savings of minor children living at home also count. And, for example, the value of your car or caravan.

How much income can I have?

You can apply for the collective health insurance with an income up to 120% of the social assistance level.

Is your income (together) higher? Then you are not entitled to the collective health insurance of the municipality.

How do I calculate if I can participate?

Add up all your income (and your partner's) for a month. This applies even if your partner doesn't want to use the collective health insurance plan.

Addition (net)

  • Income from work, benefits or student finance (without holiday allowance).
  • Pension, partner alimony or maintenance contribution.
  • Other income (e.g. interest or rental income)
  • For married couples: the General Tax Credit Tax Credit (IB/PVV) for the least-earning partner
  • If you receive a child benefit as a single parent, you count €290 per month as income. The amount above that amount is not included in your income.

Don't count

  • Child support
  • Special wellfare
  • Energy surcharge
  • Rent allowance, healthcare allowance or housing allowance
  • Child discount, combination discount and young disabled person discount
  • Part of a Child Budget: €290 is counted as income, the amount above that is not.
  • Personal budget with which you purchase care

How do I apply for health insurance?

Go to www.Gezondverzekerd.nl to:

  • compare insurance policies
  • to see if you are entitled to insurance
  • to apply for insurance or change packages

Are you not yet insured with CZ or VGZ?

  • Then you can switch at the end of November 2025.
  • Cancel your current insurance by December 31, 2025.

Provide additional information

After your application, Gezondverzekerd.nl may ask you for additional information. Use the Ockto app (Log in with DigiD, including your partner). The Ockto app retrieves the information we need from MyGovernment, MyTaxAuthority, and MyUWV. You can also send information by email or post.

Can I get help with applying or switching?

Volunteers from Home Administration are happy to help you apply for health insurance. Come to the office without an appointment. consultation hours in one of the community centers near youDon't forget to bring your DigiD, mobile phone, and any documents required for the application.

When will I get an answer?

You'll receive a message from the municipality within eight weeks. Are you participating? Then you'll receive an information package from CZ or VGZ. The municipality checks your eligibility for the insurance annually.

How can I cancel the insurance?

Do you want to cancel your collective health insurance (CZM)? Or are you moving to another municipality? Then you must always deregister with the municipality. This also applies if you switch to a different health insurer at the end of the year and the other insurer cancels your old policy through a transfer service. Why? The municipality of Tilburg is required to stop the contribution to CZ or VGZ.
