Do you have social assistance benefits? Then from now on you may receive € 1,800 per year in gifts (money or goods). This has no consequences for your benefits. Initially the amount was €1,200.
How does it work?
You may receive a maximum of € 1,800 in donations per year. Do you get more? Then the portion above € 1,800 is added to your assets. A gift is something you receive once. If someone gives you money (or groceries) every month, we no longer see this as a gift. We can then see it as income.
Where does the increase come from?
The increase is at the request of the municipal council. “Especially in these times of high inflation, the social security of many residents on social assistance benefits is under pressure,” said councilor Esmah Lahlah (Social Security). “If you are struggling to make ends meet, it is nice if loved ones can support you with a donation. The gift can also provide more financial peace to work on your future.”
Assets
With € 1,800, the municipality of Tilburg remains below the tax-free amount and is in line with amounts from other municipalities. Do you receive more donations than the maximum amount? Then the amount above € 1,800 is added to your assets. This usually has no consequences for your benefits. Unless the total maximum power becomes too high. The maximum capital is currently €7,605 for singles and €15,210 for single parents or married people.
