Income & Debt
You are allowed to receive €1,800 in gifts (money or goods) per year. This has no impact on your benefits. Previously, this was €1,200.
How does it work?
If you receive a gift, it's important that you let us know. Gifts up to €1,800 per year are not considered income or assets, and we won't deduct them from your benefits.
Please note: these gifts must not be intended to cover expenses you can also pay from your social assistance benefits. For example, if you receive money every month for groceries or health insurance, you are supposed to pay these expenses from your benefits. If you receive money for these types of expenses, we may deduct it from your benefits.
