1. What is it?

Do you have trouble reading and writing, calculating or working on the computer? Do you find it difficult to understand your post? Don't know how to look up something on the computer? Don't keep walking around with it. You are not the only one in Tilburg! The Taalhuis can help you with this!

These are the organizations in the city that teach Dutch, count and work with the computer:

  • The Central Brabant Library
  • ContourdeTwern
  • ROC
  • MST

Discuss with your customer director what you would like to learn. You register with the client director at the Taalhuis and you will then receive an invitation. You can check with the staff member of the language house which lessons and which organization suits you best.

The organization where you will take the lessons will then make agreements with you. The agreements are about when you are going to participate and which lessons you will take. If the lessons cost money, please contact your client director.

When you're done with the course, you can learn even more if you want. Discuss this with your customer manager.

2. What is the goal?

It is important that you learn what you need. This could be, for example: learning to write a letter to look for a job, learning to work on the computer or better understanding your mail. That's different for everyone.

3. How long does it take?

The cost is different for everyone. You have short courses of, for example, 10 weeks 3 hours a week. Sometimes you need more time and you go to school for 3 hours twice a week for a year.

4. For who is it?

Register at the Taalhuis if you have trouble reading and writing, counting or working with a computer. Don't hesitate to join!

5. What does the contact look like?

The conversation at the Taalhuis

You have one or two conversations with the Taalhuis. The Taalhuis is located in various places in the city. Your client director will register you for the interview. We will schedule a time that works best for you. On the day of the interview, you report to the desk. You get coffee and wait for the Taalhuis employee to pick you up. You tell the Taalhuis employee why you are there and what questions you have exactly. Do you find that difficult? Then the employee will help you by asking questions about your education and work. The employee will also ask you practical questions. For example: do you read your own post? What programs do you use on the computer? This gives the employee a good idea of what you need and which organization suits you best. The employee will register you with that organization. This organization will then call you to agree when you will start. The organization always takes into account which moments are right for you. You will no longer speak to the Taalhuis employee. Do you have any questions afterwards? Then contact the Taalhuis.

Start with the language lesson

Then you start with the language lessons. You will be taught in a group that suits you. You learn what is important to you. You work at your own pace. You have 1 or 2 lessons per week. It is exciting for many people to start with the lessons, but that feeling is often gone after 1 lesson.
