WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO?
You and your colleagues will be responsible for the care and welfare of the Mounted Police horses. You will work under the supervision of the Chief Animal Caretaker. Your responsibilities will include:
- feeding according to the feeding schedule and caring for the horses (washing, shaving, grooming)
- cleaning out stables and keeping them tidy
- taking horses to and from the paddock, pasture or training mill
- assist with training or rehabilitation and keep track of this digitally
- transporting horses to the vet or other stables
- assisting the veterinarian, dentist or physiotherapist
- maintain grounds, pastures, fencing, fleet and roadways
You ensure that everything runs smoothly, so that the horses can be deployed safely in police work.
WHAT DOES YOUR DAY LOOK LIKE?
Your day usually starts with feeding and checking the horses. Then you'll muck out the stables and tidy the grounds. You'll take horses to the pasture or the horse walker and help with grooming or training. Sometimes you'll accompany them to the vet. In between, you'll maintain machinery, equipment, and the riding arenas. You'll work weekends once every two weeks.
WHAT DO YOU BRING?
- Knowledge and experience with horses
- Vmbo/mbo-2 level in horse husbandry or similar
- You are physically and mentally fit
- You work once every 2 weeks on the weekend
- Preferably driving license B and possibly E
- Experience with machines such as an articulated loader or tractor is a plus
WHAT DO YOU GET IN RETURN?
- A 36-hour per week job (fewer hours are negotiable)
- Workplace in Boxtel, easily accessible by public transport bicycle
- Salary between €2,595.82 and €3,862.80 per month (36 hours)
- Temporary appointment of 1 year, with possibility of extension
- Guidance by a permanent contact person and possibly a job coach
