Anyone who has received the energy surcharge of € 800 before 15 September will automatically receive the extra surcharge of € 500 on the bill. You don't have to do anything yourself. The municipality will transfer the amount to you on 6 October.
Why do I receive 500 euros extra energy surcharge?
The government wants to help low-income households to continue to pay their energy bills. As energy prices continue to rise, more and more residents are spending hundreds of euros on energy bills. The government therefore decided to increase the energy surcharge from € 800 to € 1300. You receive the energy surcharge from the municipality.
I have not received an energy allowance
- Did you receive a benefit after 1 April 2022? Then you can apply for the energy allowance yourself. You will immediately receive €1300.
- Do you live with several people at one address and do you all receive benefits? In that case, the energy surcharge will go to the person who has been registered at your address the longest. You will therefore receive a maximum of one energy surcharge per address.
