4. Learning about the Netherlands
You will learn all kinds of things that are important in the Netherlands. You will learn about organisations, education, working in the Netherlands and much more. This is a mandatory part of the integration process in the Netherlands. We call this orientation. You start this after you have made your integration plan.
1.
What is it?
After the Broad intake, the Orientation begins. You agree with your coach which group you will participate in. There are two groups:
- Education/B1 Route: if we expect you to pass the civic integration exam at B1 (with components at A2).
- Z-route: if we expect that you will not be able to pass the civic integration exam at B1 (with components at A2).
You learn about that:
- your own finances and how it works in the Netherlands.
- organizations you will deal with and how to apply for things
- which is important in the Netherlands. For example, freedom and equality. At the end of the course you will receive a participation statement. You sign this during an official meeting.
- health and good nutrition
- education and work in the Netherlands
- children and upbringing
With your coach from the Refugee Team you will look for a work experience place or a school. You also train your digital skills (computer and smartphone).
The law states that you are obliged to participate in this
2.
What is the goal?
You learn all kinds of new things. At the end you have completed a number of compulsory components of the integration. You will then also know what the follow-up to your integration process looks like and what your goal is. The agreements about this are in your personal plan.
3.
How long does it take?
This will take 16 weeks. You are active about 3 days a week (afternoon or morning). These are classes, workshops, conversations or working at your internship.
4.
For who is it?
For status holders who are new in Tilburg. When you have finished the broad intake, your client director will register you for the orientation. It is important that you have childcare if you have children. It is also important that you have transportation to the Refugee Team location.
5.
What does the contact look like?
After the broad intake you have a meeting with your client director and your supervisor of the Refugee team. Together you agree which parts of the orientation program you will participate in. Then you start. The lessons are at the location of the Refugee team.
