My data and privacy

The Participation Act states which information we may request from you to determine whether you are entitled to social assistance benefits. Here you can read more about what data that is, how we record this data and what rights you have.

What can Work & Income know about me?

Under the Participation Act (Article 53) we may ask you for the information that is necessary to determine your right to a benefit. This is data about your identity, your living situation, your living situation, income and assets. We must handle your data with care and ensure that unauthorized people do not have access to your data. That is why our systems are well secured. Only authorized employees have access to your data.

What does Work & Income do with my data?

Your data will be registered in our system. This is called Suite for the Social Domain. You have your own digital personal file. Your data will be kept as long as you receive a benefit from us. If your benefit stops, we must keep your data for another 10 years. This is laid down in the Archives Act. After this period we will destroy your data.

What does the municipality record about me when I apply for a scheme?

In any case, your name, address, date of birth and your citizen service number. In addition to this general information, additional information may also be required. Think of income data and family composition. We record your data in our system and a digital personal file is created for you. This contains all the letters you receive from us.

Can I view my own data?

We are currently working on a privacy statement per department. These are included in this. This isn't finished yet.

That is why the general privacy statement of the municipality applies for now. This is based on the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Under this law you are entitled to:

  • Access to the data known to us. You can submit a request for access digitally. The municipality of Tilburg will process your request within 1 month.

  • A request to the municipality of Tilburg to delete your data if the municipality has no legitimate reason to process the data longer.

Who is my data shared with?

Your data will not be shared with other organizations without your consent. Do you have an administrator? In that case, data will be shared with you, because the administrator acts on your behalf. Are you contacting us on behalf of someone else? Then we cannot provide information without the authorization of that person. The authorization must clearly show who gives permission to whom. The authorization of both must also be signed and a copy of an identity document must be added.
