I'm new in Tilburg

3. Make an integration plan

With Vluchtelingenwerk you can arrange practical things. You will also receive help from the Refugee Team. You will work with them on your integration plan in the Netherlands. We call this the Broad Intake. You do this in 10 weeks during different classes. You also take a test to show your language level. At the end, your integration plan is complete and you move on to a new trajectory.

1. What is it?

Your 'broad intake' starts four weeks after your arrival in Tilburg. Refugee Work will arrange all practical matters with you, such as money and housing. Your customer director will register you with the Refugee Team. With the Refugee Team you work on your future in Tilburg.

You are working on your own integration plan. You do this for 10 weeks with 15 other people.

This is what you will do:

  • You learn to introduce yourself in Dutch
  • You make a timeline. With this you tell about the country you come from and what your life has been like so far.
  • You learn about Dutch society.
  • You learn about professions and working in the Netherlands.
  • You learn about social contacts in the Netherlands.
  • You learn about the health system in the Netherlands
  • You set goals for the future: what do you want to achieve? With school or with work. And what do you need to do to achieve these goals?
  • You also make a 'learnability test'. The purpose of the test is that we can assess your language level. It is a mandatory part of the integration.

You have lessons at the location of the Refugee Team. Sometimes you go with the group to other locations to learn.

After 10 weeks you end up with a plan. It contains your goals and everything you have learned. You make that plan yourself. You present the plan to the other people in the group and to your client director.

2. What is the goal?

You make a plan for your future in the Netherlands. You will receive help from your client director, the Refugee team and the language teacher of WerkvloerTaal.

3. How long does it take?

It takes 10 weeks. You go to the Refugee Team four times a week. Once a week you will receive language lessons from a WerkvloerTaal teacher.

4. For who is it?

For status holders who are new in Tilburg. Your client director will discuss with you whether you can start. It is important that you have childcare if you have children. It is also important that you have transportation to the Refugee Team location.

5. What does the contact look like?

After meeting your client director, you will be registered with the Refugee Team. Then the coach of the Refugee Team will visit you at home for an introduction. He/she will tell you more about the Broad Intake. Then you come to the location of the Refugee Team to take the lessons.
