Several people live in one house. They all rent their own room and have their own lease. We call this 'commercial room tenants'. These room tenants do not share costs with each other.
When does the cost-sharing standard apply?
Jan rents a room in this house and receives social assistance. His brother Kees comes to live in his room. Kees also has a social assistance benefit. Jan and Kees are cost-sharers of each other, because they can share the rent of the room. The cost-sharing standard therefore actually applies to Jan and Kees.
