Ready to take first steps

The foundation of your life better in order for young people

This Kikmaat trajectory helps you to take the first steps towards work (again). You will be assigned a permanent supervisor with whom you will have conversations. Together you discuss what you want to achieve and what you need to achieve this. You will also discuss how he or she can support this. You also have the opportunity to get started at a 'developing location'.

1. What is it?

This trajectory helps you to take the first steps towards work (again). You will be assigned a permanent supervisor with whom you will have conversations. Together you discuss what you want to achieve, what you need for this and how he or she can support you in this. You also have the opportunity to get started at a 'developing location'.

A development place is a temporary workplace to gain work experience and to get back into it a bit. These workplaces are available in all kinds of sectors. Together with your supervisor you look at what suits you. You discuss which activities from the list below you want to participate in. You describe in an action plan what you will do together.

These are the activities you can choose from:

  • Short internships
  • Visiting companies
  • Visiting open days of schools
  • Investigate your options for going back to school or participating in a training programme
  • Guidance and counseling: you will receive guidance in learning to act from your own strength.
  • Career guidance: together with a supervisor you look at how you can realize your career wishes.
  • Digital learning environment with a diverse range of topics such as mental health, planning and organizing and day and night rhythm
  • All kinds of other workouts that can bring you one step closer to your goal.

Kikmaat helps you to gain more self-confidence and to increase your motivation and resilience. This allows you to take the next step towards work, school, voluntary work or daytime activities. You will receive a permanent supervisor, who will help you achieve your goals. You make agreements together about how many days a week you will work. Everything is in consultation with you and we look at what suits your situation.

2. What is the goal?

Develop yourself and get moving (again). Everything is in consultation with you and we look at what suits your situation.

3. How long does it take?

The process takes an average of six months. You have a weekly meeting with your supervisor of about an hour. There can be contact in between, if you want to ask or share something and you can get started in your personal digital learning environment at the moments that suit you. Your supervisor is involved in the things you do.

If you start at a development location, you usually start with 2 times 4 hours per week (2 half-days). You are active at a development location for a maximum of 24 hours a week. It depends on what you can handle and you can slowly build up the number of hours. If you participate in a training, you sometimes spend 2 or 3 days a week on it. This can be in addition to or instead of the hours at your development location.

4. For who is it?

Are you under the age of 28 and dealing with some issues that make it difficult to get back to work in a job or school? Would you like this? Then this route is for you! Contact your client director of Work & Income for more information.

5. What does the contact look like?

You can sleep in a little today. At the end of the morning you have an appointment with your regular supervisor. This time you have arranged to meet at the community center. It's close to your home and you've been there before. Together you will make a plan on how to get your administration in order and how you can bring more rhythm into your day. You agree to visit a number of development places together where you can do an internship. In the afternoon you follow an e-learning module about sport and exercise on your mobile phone at home, because you want to get fitter. Just when you want to start with some exercises via youtube, your supervisor calls that you can start at the development location of your choice. Fun, but also exciting. You will start next week with 3 afternoons, so you can get used to it.
