Explore the possibility of going to school

Do you have questions about education and training? Are you under 27 years old? Then request an education interview with an RMC supervisor. This is an employee of the municipality who knows everything about training. He or she can advise you on what training options are available to you. If you need some extra guidance to start a training, this is also possible.
If you don't know exactly what you want, you can take a career choice test. And if it is not entirely clear which education level suits you best, you can also take an ability test.

1. What is it?

The phone number where you can reach them is 013-5325775.

2. What is the goal?

A training advice that suits your possibilities! examples of such advice:

    • Follow a BOL training. With a BOL training you go to school all day long and you do an internship at a company as part of your training. You may then be entitled to student finance. The RMC supervisor can help you register for the study program that suits you and apply for student finance.
    • Follow a BBL training. This is a combination of working and learning. Usually you go to school one day a week and work the other days. You receive a salary for this and you are not entitled to student finance. The RMC supervisor can also help you with the registration here.
    • Part-time training with work.

If it turns out that you are not currently able to go to school, the RMC counselor will advise you on what you could do.

3. How long does it take?

Most people have 1 to 5 conversations with the RMC supervisor.

4. For who is it?

If you are younger than 23 and you do not yet have a basic qualification, your client director will always register you for an educational interview. This is stated in the law, because we think it is important that everyone has the opportunity to obtain a basic qualification. This increases the chance of a good job.

Are you between 23 and 27 years old and would you like to know what training options are available to you? Then report this to your client director. You can also use this conversation. It is then not mandatory.

5. What does the contact look like?

You have a meeting at the municipal office with the RMC supervisor. He or she will ask questions about your previous education and interests. Also whether you have thought about what you would like and whether there are things to take into account.

Based on your answers and ideas, the counselor makes an assessment of the options you have. He or she will also tell you if a particular wish you have is realistic. If you have an idea that may not be possible or is difficult, then you can look together at what is possible.

A career choice test or ability test can be part of this. You make these yourself online and discuss the results together later. Then you make a plan A, B and C. You first start with plan A. If that somehow doesn't work, there are still plans B and C.

You then start working on the plan yourself. The client director of Work & Income can help you with this.
